Many installation workers and construction companies often overlook some details when installing aluminum veneer. Today, we will share the methods for installing aluminum veneer and the points to note.

Aluminum veneer installation method

Method 1

Setting out → fixing the connectors of the framework → fixing the framework → installing the aluminum panels → closing structure treatment → inspecting the setting out → fixing the connectors of the framework → fixing the framework → installing the aluminum panels → closing structure treatment → inspecting

Method Two

(1) Setting out, fixing the framework, and snapping the position of the framework onto the base layer. The framework is fixed on the main structure, and the quality of the main structure is checked before setting out.

(2) Connectors for fixing the skeleton

Weld connectors on the columns of the main structure to fix the framework.

(3) Fixed skeleton

Before installing the framework, it is necessary to carry out anti-corrosion treatment in advance. During installation, the position should be accurate and the combination should be firm. After installation, it is necessary to check the lines, surface elevation, etc.

To ensure the installation accuracy of aluminum veneer, a theodolite can be used to align the crossbeam and vertical frame members. At the same time, deformation joints, settlement joints, and variable cross-sections should be properly treated to meet the usage requirements.

(4) Install aluminum veneer

The installation and fixation of aluminum veneer should be firm and reliable, and easy to operate. The gaps between boards should be internally treated to make them flat and smooth. After the installation of aluminum veneer, parts that are prone to contamination should be covered and protected with plastic film or other materials.

Method Three

(1) Transport aluminum veneer and accessories to each construction node using vertical transportation equipment such as elevators.

(2) Use a cleaning agent to clean the indoor side of the aluminum veneer and the surface of the column frame.

(3) The entire aluminum veneer is connected to the joist through the aluminum corner brackets (hanging ears) around it and is fixed on the joist.

(4) Fixing method: If it is an interior seamless splicing aluminum veneer, an electric drill can be used to drill holes at corresponding positions on the joist, and then flat-head (counter-sunk) aluminum rivets can be used for riveting; if it is an exterior aluminum veneer with glue joints, steel self-tapping screws can be used to directly drill into the joist through the connection holes of aluminum brackets to fix the aluminum panel, but attention should be paid to controlling the tightness of the drill bit to adjust the aluminum panel.

(5) Before bringing aluminum veneer into the site, conduct a trial assembly. First, slightly fix the aluminum veneer onto the joist, paying attention to the installation accuracy control. After adjusting the panel, tighten it.

(6) When installing aluminum veneer, it should be installed on the wall in order according to its number.

(7) The installation of aluminum veneer shall follow the principle of starting from the front, large areas, and corners, and proceed from top to bottom.

(8) The connection between the aluminum veneer and the joist must comply with the drawing requirements, be firm and reliable, and no bolts should be omitted.

(9) The connection structure of the curtain wall corners and surrounding walls, as well as the upper and lower seals, and the treatment of deformation joints shall comply with the design requirements.

(10) Curtain wall node construction and closing treatment

Wall panel node: Issues such as uneven alignment or unequal board surfaces often occur at the joint of the node. Therefore, it is necessary to first install one side of the board, align it, and use horizontal and vertical control lines to determine the installation position of the other side. Once both sides of the board meet the requirements, drive in the rivets in sequence and install the pressing plate for fixation.

Wall lower end closing treatment: Custom-made water retaining boards according to actual dimensions, sealing the lower end and covering the gap between the board and the wall to prevent rainwater from infiltrating into the interior.

(11) During installation, pay attention to the gaps between panels and the height requirements at the panel interfaces

(12) After the aluminum veneer is installed, cover and protect the parts that are easily contaminated with plastic film or other materials.

Aluminum veneer installation precautions

1. When transporting aluminum veneer, handle it gently and avoid violent impact, as this can damage the edges, corners, and surface of the aluminum panel, affecting installation and construction, and also wasting money.

2. During installation, pay attention to protecting the board surface. Do not let the board surface touch the ground to avoid scratching the decorative surface.

3. The variety, quality, color, shape, and lines of aluminum veneer should meet the design requirements and have corresponding product certification.

4. When using steel joists for the curtain wall framework, their specifications and shapes should comply with design requirements, and rust removal and rust prevention treatments should be carried out.

5. In the installation process of aluminum veneer, when there are no design requirements, if core-pulling aluminum rivets are used, a rubber ring must be placed in the middle, and the spacing between core-pulling rivets should be controlled within 100mm-150mm.

6. After the installation of aluminum veneer is completed, remember to remove the protective film after 3 days. If left for too long, it will be difficult to remove, and it may affect its appearance after removal.
